GLOSSARY OF TERMS FOR DIGESTIVE DISEASES

  • Colon - the large bowel
  • Barium - a thick, white substance that x-rays cannot penetrate
  • Endoscopy (-ies) - looking inside you with a long, thin viewing instrument.
  • Gastroscopy - looking inside your stomach with a long, thin viewing instrument.
  • Feces, Fecal, Stool - All terms for solid waste that passes with bowel movements.
